Rutherford Court Confederate Memorial

Confederate Memorial

On May 10, 1909 during Confederate Memorial Day plans were announced to erect a 30-foot granite monument on lawn of the new Court House to honor the "Men and Women of the Confederacy." The Rutherfordton Sun predicted on October 6, 1910 that the monument would "stand for years to come as a tribute to the brave and true, and a testimony of the love and devotion of those who gave their all to the defense of our Southern fields and firesides."

Cherry Bounce Trail Sign

Cherry Bounce Trail

Originally the Cherry Bounce Trail was used as a distribution route by moonshiners to deliver Amos Owens’ famous Cherry Bounce drink (made from Golden Valley cherries). Today it is a beautiful route that runs throughout Rutherford County and provides travelers with some of the most breathtaking views the county has to offer.
There are several historical markers along the way as well as popular destinations such as Washburn’s General Store and the Bostic Lincoln Center.Click here for a turn-by-turn cue sheet:Cherry Bounce Trail Flyer
