ST. JOHN EPISCOPAL CHURCH #10

Established 1847

St. John Episcopal Church is one of the finest examples of Greek Revival style religious structures in western North Carolina.  It also happens to the oldest church structures in Rutherford County.

When entering the church, visitors are transported back in time. The church has been so well maintained almost all of the interior is original, including the pews.  Placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971, the church is now owned and occupied by the Rutherford Historical Society.

Each year during the Christmas holiday, the church plays host to the annual Shape Note Singing event.  A truly beautiful and moving performance, not to be missed.
